WESTMINSTER DOG SHOW TO ADD
OBSTACLE COURSE, FRISBEE CATCH
The Westminster Kennel Club announced that
this year's dog show will require all contestants to either
run
an obstacle course or participate in a Frisbee catch competition as
part of a newly created talent portion of the event. |

As a result of sagging ratings
in recent years, Westminster officials decided to add
the competitions to broaden the appeal of the event.
"Those dog shows on Animal Planet have been destroying
us in the ratings, so we decided two can play at that
game, said Westminster Kennel Club President Kenneth
McAllister |

Recent surveys concluded that the public has grown tired or simply
seeing the dogs prance around the stage or have their teeth examined
by some judge. Many also noted that some of the dogs seem to have an
arrogant swagger about them, as if they think they're better than
everyone else.
'Viewers hate it when they think they are being looked down upon,
especially by dogs," said McAllister. "We understand that these dogs
give the impression that they lead very pampered lives, but that's
simply not the case. Seeing them get a bit ruffled while running an
obstacle course will allow viewers to relate to them more, and help
to dispel the notion that they are afraid of getting their paws
dirty.. |
